History

The Sanford Springvale Midget Football league had its inception in a Sanford Park Department "Flag Football" program in the autumn of 1964
Legally became the Sanford Springvale Athletic League, Inc. in 1966
1st year of tackle football for the midget football league was 1966
Boys' Midget basketball league was established in 1968
Girls' Midget basketball league was established in 1969
Founded Sanford Springvale Youth Athletic Association in 1969
Midget baseball league made its debut during the summer of 1969 and ended in 1999
The football Cheerleaders were formally organized in 1969
The Springvale town hall became the home of the SSYA in April, 1973
Veteran's Park was dedicated on April 27, 1991
Incorporated as a (501) (c) (3) non-profit organization in January of 1992
Girls Field Hockey was introduced to the town in the fall of 1994
Wrestling was established in 2000 and ended in 2010
Moved out of the SSYAA center and into the Nasson Community Center in 2004
Girls' Lacrosse made its debut in the spring of 2009
Boy's Lacrosse made its debut in the spring of 2011
SSYAA Received a donation by Board Member Shaun Buswell's Employer Alliance Funding group so we can purchase our own concession stand to be placed on Cobb July 2019
SSYAA President Nickie Buswell completed the process for permits for Concession Stand July 2019
August 30th 2019 SSYAA Concession stand was built on Cobb Stadium field
