SSYAA Information
It takes hundreds of volunteer hours to have a successful season for each of the sports we offer. From referees to coaches to fundraising
to helping in the consession stand, we have more things to do than we have people to do them. Many times you'll see the same people in
multiple positions just because there aren't enough volunteers to go around. Please consider helping us help the children. You can attend
a board meeting to see how you can help. Thank you!

Once upon a time the Student Activity Center, (the Nasson College gym), was the place to be on Friday and Saturday nights, where exciting division three men's
and women's basketball took place. It was a great history for those who remember!
Flash forward to a new century and the gym, (now the centerpiece for the Nasson Community Center), is once again the place to be. Five years ago the NCC
opened its doors with the Sanford/Springvale Youth Athletic Association serving as a cornerstone tenant (moving up street from the old Springvale Town Hall
which served as the organizations home for thirty plus years).
Another winters youth sports season is upon us here in our home, where we offer basketball and wrestling from November to March. All seven of the SSYAA's
basketball programs, (serving boys and girls ages 7-18), utilize the NCC gym for practice on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, approximately 380 kids with
our senior boys, girls and super senior boys divisions using the Sanford Junior High gym on Thursday, Friday nights and Saturday mornings for games.
On Saturday, game day, boys and girls from the junior and intermediate divisions fill the NCC gym from 8am till 4pm. The mid-court curtain comes down allowing 2
games to be played at once. Twenty two teams play against each other. The games are fast and furious with good play and sportsmanship from all teams. A
delicious concession stand adds to the flavor of the day.
Our wrestling program allows kids from pre-kindergarten through the sixth grade, (approximately 40 kids), to participate in a fun Learning environment and
compete in meets all over the state.
The Sanford/Springvale Youth Athletic Association is a non-profit all volunteer organization, dedicated to providing the children of the Sanford/Springvale
community with safe well-organized sports activities. Presently we offer programs in Football, Field Hockey, Basketball, Wrestling and Cheerleading. Thank you
for your interest in our future, our children.
We would also like to thank all of the sponsors and volunteers for their time and donations, without which, SSYAA and this wonderful youth sports organization
would not be possible. A special thanks to the past SSYAA Board Members for the fifty plus years this organization has been proud to run youth sports programs
for the kids in our community.
Thank you,
SSYAA Board of Directors
