LACROSSE & 4TH GRADERS???

Do you have a 4th grader interested in playing lacrosse for the SSYAA?

How do you feel about your 4th grader competing with 8th graders?

 

I have received several questions about 4th graders playing lacrosse this year and I am very excited to see the interest in the sport growing. In the past our program has included children in grades 5 - 8 all playing together. Even merging all grades we have not had enough numbers to field four full teams for girls or boys. So I have posed the above questions.

Keep in mind that boys youth lacrosse is a contact sport similar to ice hockey, while the girls program is non-contact similar to field hockey.

SSYAA 2012 Lacrosse Signups

BOYS and GIRLS Lacrosse Grades 5 - 8

Registrations will be held at Nasson Community Center

Tuesday, February 27th 5-7pm Saturday, March 3rd 8am-12pm

Tuesday, March 6th 5-7pm Saturday, March 10th 8am-12pm

$60.00 for boys and girls Lacrosse players grades 5-8

Girls Eligibility: Girls who will be in grades 5-8 in the 2011-2012 school years.

Boys Eligibility: Boys who will be in grades 5-8 in the 2011-2012 school years.

NOTES:

  • A family cap of 2 ½ times the registration fee is available for families with 3+ children registering.

  • Due to equipment limitations registration is limited to 60 Girl Lacrosse players, 60 Boys Lacrosse players. Returning athletes will be placed on teams first. Sanford/Springvale registrants will be placed on teams next and new, out of town registrants will be placed on waiting lists. They will fill available spaces on teams on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The SSYAA boy’s lacrosse program has it sign-ups in February and March. Practices begin in early April and games begin at the end of April. Lacrosse games are played on Sunday late morning/early afternoon. Games run until the end of the school year. Boys must be in the Fifth – Eighth grades. All skill levels are welcome to sign up.
